Bevel Reflect Logo

Feb. 02, 2014

Bevel Reflect Logo V1.6 allows for the easy creation of reflective beveled text and images by leveraging the ML Bevel Reflect Plug-in, which is required for the operation of this script. Supports both Create Logo and Alpha to Logo options. Requires GIMP 2.8.x.

You can load external Light Probe images, HDRi Probe Images and Spherical Environment Maps for use with this script. If no external image is selected, Bevel Reflect Logo will generate a Spherical Environment Map from the selected gradient and Environment Map generation options specified by the user. Several spherical environment maps, suitable for use with this script, are available for download from GIMP Chat’s Resource Section.

User can select from several contour curves to apply to the image to be mapped, as well choosing the light direction and intensity of specular highlight on the spherical environment map.

Due to the number of options available to the user when using this script, it is recommended that you update GIMP with the new Scrolling Script-Fu Interface. Otherwise, you may not be able to access all of the options for this script.

When I open the Script-Fu Bevel Reflect Logo, the dialogue window flows off the bottom of my screen and I cannot see or get to the bottom part to see what I am doing and press the buttons, which I assume are down there. Resizing the window doesn’t do anything. Has anyone else had this problem, and any suggestions on how to fix this ? Maybe I can do something in my Windows settings. But if anyone has run across this and knows how to fix it, your help would be APPRECIATED GREATLY. Thanks !

Couldn’t find install instructions, so I just renamed the old *.exe file to *.old and copied in the new one you suggested.
Works great now ! Thanks for your help and all the hard work you do to support and improve this software. Love it !

    • Glad I could help. The install instructions are in the first post of the thread. All you really need to do is copy the executable into your user plug-ins folder.

  5. Bevel Reflect logo opens a window that is full
screen top top bottom, and is un-sizable…
I can’t access the options at the bottom…
    What can you suggest??

  6. I couldn’t get to the OK button on the bottom of the Dialogue box no matter what I did. But… easy solution! I just dragged my Taskbar from the top of my screen to the side of my screen. This freed up enough room on my screen for the full Dialogue box so I’m now able to reach its OK button.

    • Glad to hear you found a solution, although that doesn’t work on every OS. This script was designed to work in conjunction with the script-fu scrolling interface plug-in. There are two versions of the scrolling interface plug-in. Ensure you match the correct version of the plug-in with your version of GIMP.

  7. I have Windows 10, 64 bit, with Gimp 2.8.18, and I used Version V1.1 of the interface.

    • Ah, That makes sense. I’m not a big Windows user but I understand that the Win10 taskbar can hide the botom section of scripts, even with the scrolling interface. Dragging it off to the side is a good solution. Another option for Win10 would be AltDrag, which gives the same functionality as Linux.

  8. You should maybe consider adding a note to your instructions above, give Windows 10 users a heads up. Save a bit of angst (which we Windows 10 users already have plenty of!).
