Platonic Calendar

This script creates a “Platonic calendar” (a dodecahedron is a 12-sided platonic solid) and is found under “File->Create”. The default edge-length of “450″ should produce an image suitable for printing on a DIN A4 sheet of paper at 300DPI (though this may need some tweaking).

Stickit

3D Metal Text

Zoom Selection

Animated Snowfall

Create an animated snowfall effect over an existing background image (must be RGB type). You can add snow to an existing animation (convert it to an RGB type first – Image Menu > Mode > RGB) or you can export the snow layers to separate images for additional processing in other programs or in GIMP GAP.

You can also set the snowflake size and blur the flakes.

Flood Out Transparency

Pattern Scale

A script to take the current pattern, scale it and leave a copy in the clipboard. Gimp 2.6 lets you use the image in the clipboard as a fill pattern, so you can just use it from there. Now handles patterns rescaled larger than 512×512. If larger than 512×512 it will save the scaled pattern to a file, refresh patterns, and set the active pattern to be the saved file. (It uses the same pattern file name every time, so calling the script repeatedly will not build up a large number of scaled pattern files.)

Perspective Reflection

This script creates a reflection of the current image with optional perspective.

User inputs for rotation, distance and camera height.

Set rotation and distance to 0 to create a reflection without any perspective.

3D Glassy Web Button

Create a glassy 3D button for your website or other application. This is a round web 2.0 button/icon with a surrounding beveled metal ring.

This script includes user inputs for button size, outer ring width, custom color gradient and the coefficient to adjust layer gloss.

GIMP Layer Effects

This package provides a series of scripts that implement various layer effects, which include Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, Satin, Color Overlay, Gradient Overlay, Pattern Overlay & Stroke.

You can choose between the Script-Fu (scheme) or Python-Fu (python) implementations of the package. The python version is more robust and feature rich.

Liquid Water Effect (updated)

Create text which looks like water on a tiled background. The script also places water droplets randomly surrounding the text. The script has many parameters to tweak, which allows the user to get just the right effect they need.

Overall, this script does a good job of creating a fairly realistic water effect.

Gimp Chat Discussion Thread

This script has now been updated to v0.4 with improved anti-aliasing. Delete the old version v0.3 and replace with the new one. Also, this script is an update to the FX-Foundry version ( xtns-demartin-liquid-water.scm). If you have FX-Foundry installed, ensure xtns-demartin-liquid-water.scm is removed. Otherwise, conflicts will occur.

Neon Path

A quickie to transform any path into a neon sign, and more generally to draw a gradient across a path:

Define path. For text: use “stroke” fonts, and “path from text” in the text tool. Define current gradient, left color as darkest color, right color as lightest. Plugin will create layer with neon rendering of path If a “Glow value is used, a second layer is generated with a blurred image.
